Now-a-Days there are lots of changes in Tamil films as romantic, thriller, entertainer which are more innovative and real. Director Vijay had taken a good try to make period film based on pre-independence environment. Madharasapattinam Tamil Movie is a diverse cinema with a number of fine performances of actors.

Madharasapattinam movie story begins in London with grandmother character Amy who counting her days in bed. She is willing to visit India. With her grand daughter, Amy starts her journey to Chennai and her flashback also starts from there.

We came to know the reason for the journey to India especially Chennai.
Amy (Amy Jackson), daughter of British Governor fall in love with a Tamil Dhobi guy (Aarya). Once it came to Amy’s house they were separated. At that time, earlier Chennai backdrops and love scenes are key story line of Madharasapattinam film. In climax, there was surprise waiting for Amy which predictable.
Aarya had done a great job in his acting and body languages. Amy looks like doll in flashback scenes and nothing special to say more about her. Late actor Haneefa, Omar and Nasser make justice for their characters. Other artists haven't got much to score.
The main plus point of the Madharasapattinam movie is Camera work (Nirav Shah) & art work (SelvaKumar). G.V.Prakash music is fascinated for the Madharasapattinam film.

Since English dialogues were more in first-half, audiences were more restless. And also first-half scenes were lengthy too. Concentration on Screenplay is slagging.
The Madharasapattinam Tamil film can be watched for the attempts of Vijay by showing the old Madharasapattinam.
