Jayam Ravi’s films with his brother Raja have been admirable remakes and Thillalangadi is not an exemption. Director Raja has imitated each and every shot from the telugu film “Kick”.
Its clear-cut that “Jayam Raja” is a ‘Best Remake Director’ for right replicating others’ ideas. Of course, Kick itself was inspired from Hollywood’s hit film Catch me if you can, but it was only a base. But there are no changes in Thillalangadi from “kick” except couple of songs.
Krishna (Jayam Ravi) is a happiest man who will do everything for kick. The small cartoon flashback of his childhood days and playing as kids with others is really fantastic.
Then he met Nisha (Tamanna), he like her very much. So that he proposed his love to her and asking her not to accept his love immediately as there is no kick on that. So she hates him. But slowly she admire on his good qualities and trying to make him as a perfect man. Due to his irresponsibly she break-ups with him. Then story moves to Malaysia. At that time engagement arrangements were taken for Nisha with Krishnakumar (Shaam), a police officer and the actual motive for coming to Malaysia is to find and catch a robber whom he has never seen. Nisha and Krishnakumar share their stories with each other. While she never wishes to see the character of her life again, Krishnakumar wants to meet the rival of his story urgently. Co-incedently both the character and the rival of their particular stories is the same person and as you estimation that is none other than Krishna (Jeyam ravi).

Remaining of the film is all on how Krishna wins back the heart of Nisha and the motive at the back of his robberies having a significant reason.

The major crisis with Thillalangadi is each and every actor aping the characters of Kick. Be it the lead actors Ravi and Tamanna or Santhanam imitating Telugu actor Ali, it’s actually ridiculous and Director be supposed to allow them to act in their own way. Tamanna looks pretty. Just gaze at her gestures while doing exercises as it’s too gauche. Ravi looks sweet and bubbly and his performance during last 45 mins is great. Vadivelu is fine with his humor tracks while Santhanam doesn’t get a sufficient amount footage. Shaam is amazing with his unbelievable acting. He looks vigorous and entirely suits the role of a strong cop. It’s well again if Shaam continues to select such roles in future.

Prabhu and Suhasini perform their work well. RadhaRavi makes mirth with his dialogues. But Director may try to avoid the word ‘Jil Jil Jiga’ from “Kick” (The basis of that word used in Kick, because of the legendary song in ‘Happy Days’ begins with these fancy line).

As mentioned earlier, Director hasn’t stressed even slightly. Screenplay from starting to end is similar as Kick. Director may take slight steps to make improvements on Kick to avoid slow in second half.
